Movement into melee

Does a leg unit have to begin it's move adjacent to an enemy unit in order to melee, or can it enter the enemy hex from more than one hex away? If the latter is the case, can it be op fired on when more than one hex away or does a declared melee prevent that?

The latter, you can enter melee if you start further away than adjacent.
Yes you can be Op fired on in any hex as you approach your target.
You can't be Op fired on in the moment you enter the target hex.

Thanks for the quick reply. That's a little different than a couple of other systems that I'm used to, but really enjoy the LnLT approach, and it makes perfect sense.
