Spotting at the beginning of the operations phase

I am very new to this system, I have only the demo game. have all the ww2 games on preorder. my question is : at the beginning of the operations phase do you place spotted markers on all units that are in open ground hexes ? Do they have to be in LOS of enemy unit? Thanks for helping.

I guess you could place those markers but typically if a unit is in the open and in the LOS of an enemy target it is simply understood to be spotted. No need to mark it.
