Does Resurgence replace original SI?

Hello, I just picked up Space Infantry 2nd Edition and I'm interested in Resurgence. Is Resurgence a separate game, or does it make original Space Infantry obsolete?

In my opinion, it is a new edition so in a sense it replaces the previous editions. From the store page:

Space Infantry: Resurgence also brings together every module, both by LnLP and by the game’s developer, including New Worlds, Hordes mode, Steele Bones, and The Last Outpost with new components, systems, and artwork.

If someone did not already own previous editions I would say to wait until Resurgence comes out as it does not sound like previous editions will add anything other than being able to play right away.
