Wingmen

Question: In fighter vs. fighter combat, if a fighter with a wingman is shot down before it can fire (it had a lower performance rating than its opponent), what becomes of the wingman? Does he get to return fire alone, or is the whole return fire cancelled by the leader's loss?

I presume it's the latter...

The leader is lost, the Wingman survives and has to join a second combat round if there are enemy fighters left.
