White vs Blue vs Green locations

I see two mentions of the location box colors:

1. Optional rule for checks to see if crews survive being shot down.
2. Two-player flak rules.

Is there no other significance to these locations' colors? Such as, can interceptors attack your bombers when in green boxes over England?

Interceptors won't appear that close unless you roll 12 if i remember well.
