I've downloaded the core engine but have never play CO before. Does anyone have any sources of information on basic gameplay that I can use until the manual is completed?

Thanks for the help.

I'm new to the series as well and while waiting for the release I gave the original "Command Ops Bulge Demo" a try and Dave had a good set tutorial videos for it posted to youtube for it:

The CO2 tutorial scenario looks to be the same one, so I think the gameplay info in the videos should work taking into account that the UI has changed for the better since, I will be using this to learn as well.

The Game Concepts video as well was helpful as well to understand the systems:

  1. Check out the temporary Game Manual that comes with your Core engine.
  2. Ask me a question here.
  3. Checkout the CO1 Tutorial Movies on YouTube here:

  4. Check out the original CO1/BFTB Game Manual by downloading the BFTB Demo and extracting the manual from that. You can download it here:

Thanks Dave (and Kludger), I'll check out these resources tomorrow.

Dave, I've taken your advice on all of these steps and have found the videos to be extremely helpful. I also downloaded the BFTB demo and extracted the manual. When comparing the St. Vith scenario on both the BFTB demo and CO2 I love the improved UI but, on my system, I do notice a difference in speed and lag time. My system meets the requirements for CO2 but barely for some elements (my CPU is a 2.1 Ghz dual core) so I'm concerned how it will handle the larger scenarios. I'm looking forward to the improvements in gaming speed that you're going to work on over the next couple of weeks. I'll wait and see how this works on my system before deciding on the purchase of the scenario bundle as I want to be confident they'll be playable on my computer. You've built a wonderful gaming system here and I'm hoping that the steps you take to optimize the processing speed will allow it to run on my older system.

Also check out...

Although dated, Mark “MarkShot” Kratzer (beta tester) (I remember him from Matrix forums) Tips PDF has a lot of good general info that can still be applied to CO2.
