Awww, you should have insisted on getting the animal-paw version! :D

Hi Mark, did you consider getting some artificial discs? If that's a feasable option, it would remove the pain, completely. One of my lower discs acted up 11 yrs ago. The hearniated thing didn't cause massive pain but its pressure on the spinal cord caused some serious 24/7 cramps in my hip and...

That worked. :) I like the assembly icon, it would make for a pretty cool task icon. The reserve one looks rather like a formation symbol, imho.

Hm, I'd suggest to use the military symbol for the rally ("RLY") point. You can then rename/redesignate the smbol, accordingly. Example: "RES" for the reserve location/point, "ASY" for the assembly point, etc. You could use an outline version (pic 2), ofc.

    The Infernal Island AAR

That's interesting, as in Arnhem the sunset should kick in a bit later, at 19:14 h (with the start of the civil twilight), to be exact. Troops should then still be able to perform some operations, until around 20:04 h (16 mins after the end of the civil twilight which ends at 19:48 h). Complete...

    Decision at Clervaux AGAIN! aar

That is correct, generally, but manual FM - 7-22 (October 2020, Sleep Readiness) encourages soldiers/officers to install "sleep banking". This means that soldiers get 8 or (ideally) more hours of sleep per night before major missions. The actual goal there is to get more sleep than usual (such...

No offense taken. :) Take care! You wrote a perfect description of what I think the HOI series (and its programmer) is about: Milking a franchise, putting a minimum effort into fixing apparent bugs and deficiencies to calm ppl in their forums and then raise expectations (and hopes) with sequel...

Yes, correct, the air campaign against industrial targets proved to be a constant drain on German armament replacement/supply distribution efforts. The bombing campaign forced the Germans to move plants/production to safer areas (eg. East Germany, Bavaria, Austria or Czech). In some cases the...

Hey Mark, nice to see you around. :) No. United States Forces sunk or put out of action (for the duration of the war) 2,117 merchant vessels with 7,913,858 tons of Japanese merchant tonnage, where 1,113 merchant vessels (4,779,902 tons) were sunk by US submarines alone, according to the JANAC...

Order of Battle - Hermann Goering Division

Quite some information there is based on Tessin's lists and books (he was archivist at the German Federal military archive), so we're talking about works published from ~1966 to 1974. Tessin's work is very useful and a very good starting point even for historians, but especially the partial...

    Map Textures Mod

Hm... Say one of your coys has taken position in the woods (camouflaged and protected by trees and foxholes) and an enemy coy on patrol enters the grass land part, then your coy should have full view on the enemy, while the enemy walks by in the open, maybe even without being able to spot your...

Test playing Chir river, have a question

Spotting, well, optics (telescopes) were used to spot, identify, observe and engage enemy tanks in the distance, persicopes were used to grasp the terrain layout , to improve the situational awareness and to gather a quick overview of enemy and friendly movement on the perimeter. Most periscopes...

Converting armor slope to populate the Establishment

I actually had/kept that in mind, I just wanted to warn that during the collection/research of penetration tables one may confuse the different standard angles, no more, no less. There is one or another wargame where the developers created invulnerable German tanks, unintentionally, because they...

Converting armor slope to populate the Establishment

Correct. The Germans, eg. in fire tables (for projectiles and tank/AT guns) and field/vehicle manuals, indicated 60° (from horizontal) as standard term/setup for penetration tests, which corresponds to the US/GB standard of 30° (from vertical). Some ppl tend to forget these little details (in...

11th Schutzen brigade and why do I need it in my 11th Pz Div Estab?

On top of that, the military archive of the federal archive resides in South Germany, Freiburg im Breisgau, it's right East (37 km) of the French City of Colmar, some 50 km from the borders of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It would be a trip of like 434 km (linear distance 323 km). If it would...

11th Schutzen brigade and why do I need it in my 11th Pz Div Estab?

I stumbled over a website that held daily reports of US units, and I found the daily AARs of several towed AT gun units (AT Bns/Coys) which performed indirect fire missions - sometimes on a daily basis - starting in autumn 1944, aiding US artillery units. I think I created a thread on here, a...

11th Schutzen brigade and why do I need it in my 11th Pz Div Estab?

I think certain British documents can be found in the British national archive, but only some/selected docs are online. You need to know what you're looking for/narrow down the search, and then you can order copies, I think TMO mentioned that too, ages ago. An example...
