I had a good order leader who has done nothing in the turn so far. Hovering over an enemy says 50% chance to spot, but I see no button to actually make the spotting attempt nor does left/right click do anything. What am I missing to be able to spot someone?
I see what you are saying Norm. No rudeness detected. :) Of course in my mind, I am the exact person to let read the rulebook at this point.
One word is all it takes to change what a rule is really trying to say though. Maybe this is the game of make of the rules what you will, being new I...
Sorry, you seem to be taking some offense at my question I apologize if so. I have also played ASL for 20+ years and I am also just coming to the LnL system because I have friends that don't want to learn ASL. When I read a rule normally all the words have meaning. If you can't see my point...
Again, reading the rule is very straightforward until you get to the word directly AND all your examples in the rulebook show what I and others reading the rule for the first time would deem the word directly to mean. IMO, the word doesn't need to be there at all.
Can a mortar fire at a hex with nothing in it? Just to put the FFE down to either help with moving up behind the degrading hex of the FFE or try and keep someone from moving into that hex?
If you are IN a bunker and get hit with a Flamethrower and are shaken. Do you JUST get out of the bunker...
Weapon Team inside the bunker. Shaken German squad in hex. French squad moves into hex. We assumed melee was immediate and no chance for WT to fire. So the shaken German squad and French squad get a melee counter and the shaken guys are eliminated. Melee marker still exists.
So neither...
Well, this makes me sad, without doing so DYO scenarios are a no go online. I was going to start writing some myself, but if you can't mix boards and counters from different boxes it limits the potential of what can be done.
I totally understand how SSRs work, I have played ASL for 25 years. Nowhere in the SSRs though say what kind of building this is. What are we missing?
Also, thanks for all the replies. The game doesn't seem to have a lot of online support/following.
Rattenkrieg scenario has the Soviets trying to take what seems obviously a church to me with a steeple depicted in it, in 46i5. The TEC says the only multi-level buildings are Heavy Construction that are three hexes are larger. In the sentence before that, it states the roof will be...
And what you are saying Stephane I completely agree with, that is how I originally interpreted the rule. We then noticed that word directly and second guessed ourselves.
Directly is a modifying word, why not just say behind. All the examples in the rulebook show what I would consider directly. These all below are DIRECTLY behind to me. I wish they would have let someone newer to the game read the new rulebook to point out "issues" like this.
Two questions here and sorry if my ASL is spilling over:
French are on level 1 of the building.
Units in I5 are spotted just because they are in open ground right?
Is LOS degraded by 1 for this shot because of the Orchards in K5? I thought yes for sure, but after reading the LOS stuff again...
What are the chances of getting a VASSAL module that is all inclusive? Meaning all boards, all counters etc in one module. Right now if you have a DYO scenario(maybe there are other scenarios in modules or compendiums as well) that uses counters or boards from different modules there is no way...
What are you guys using to store you X-Maps unfolded in? I am having a hard time finding something that will hold the 11x17 unless I want to order 25 corrugated mailers at once. If someone has a different purchased solution, mind sharing the link?
Thanks
Wes
