    Taking the Airfield at Maleme

I've bitten off more than I can chew here with the assault on Maleme with the Fallschirmjager. Commanding anything more than a company is way out of my wheelhouse. I had my units advance to secure Maleme, while simultaneously attack Khania and move to secure Souda. As a newbie, I did not take...

    HQ casualties and effectiveness

Destruction of an HQ can sever communication to subordinate units. This in turn can have a huge impact on morale and unit effectiveness. I would add that if you have a company commander whose experience isn’t very high, you could, without the communications and morale, take that company out...

Tutorial realizations and a few questions

Excellent discussion. My first St. Vith tutorial was cut short (I was the German side) but managed to fight off American armor long enough to feather my cap... that is until the wife put dinner on the table. I’ll pick it up tomorrow and hope I can halt the advance.

FYI Suggestion from a Happy Steamer

Battalion commanders do care about which company does what. They know their Company commanders, the First Sgt., and in many cases, have first hand knowledge of the capabilities of the respective Platoon Sgt.’s. During the planning stage of any operation, “Dick”, or “Winters”, may be the CO in...

Thanks John, it looks like you are right, and both are in the pack.

    The future of Command Ops?

Hi John, not sure what afaik is. Could you steer me to where it might be? I’m thinking of buying the big pack of scenarios.

    The future of Command Ops?

I’m a newbie... first post. I like the real-time on the fly aspect of this game. Not your run of the mill hex based game. I like the tactical decision making that is needed. I’m a retired Ranger, and enjoy the study of tactics, especially WWII tactics and just overall the history. I have read...
