GPQ: Numer next to Crossing Point

What does the orange number next to a crossing point (when you right click on it) mean ?

I don't think the number 9 means anything, if I recall correctly. It was just put in there to signify a type, I think. There was a post about it ages ago and I think the answer was that the number meant nothing functional.
