Hero Creation/OP Fire/Double Time/ Assault Move situation

Situation: Assault fire capable unit (movement 4) and with a leader (movement 6) declare Assault Move at the double time (movement 6). The expend 1 MP and are subject to OF. The SMC leader is shaken and hence stops movement. The MMC casualty result generates a hero which should be able to continue movement, and the MMC is unshaken and can also continue movement.

Question: Does the MMC lose its double time MPs with the halting of the leader? (yes) but can it is continue its assault move with the Hero and use his extra double time MP capability?

How we played it: The MMC continues to move with the hero and the hero conveys his Double Time ability to the MMC so they could go 3 spaces instead of 2 and use their assault fire ...(justification: that is exactly the kind of narrative action that is heroic!

The MMP can continue to Assault move but loses the Double Time. Heroes can't make MMPs Double Time.... unless they get the Leader Hero skill card.
