Just received a Banzai Melee from the Japanese playing the digital game. Survived and now units are locked in Melee. However the surviving USA leader is able to call in an Artillery Strike. Not sure if this is legal or not.

Thanks for any help.

You know what; there is nothing in the rules that specifically rules this out. Sure, there is this sentence: Locked units cannot move (unless withdrawing) or fire, but can use an impulse in the following turn to either Melee or attempt to withdraw, which seems to imply that they can only withdraw or melee again but it could be worded in a more affirmative way. A statement to the effect that, when you activate a hex under a melee marker, you can only withdraw and/or melee, would solve the ambiguity.

I will write to Tom so that he can correct this.
