HI! everyone. Simple ? on mortar firing. When mortars fire direct or indirect do mortars use a marker on the targeted hex like artillery does? Thanks for answering.

Not sure I understand your question but, as indicated under 18.0:
After the attack, place a Fire for Effect (FFE) marker on the target hex; the FFE marker stays on
the Map until the Admin Phase and attacks any unit that enters its hex.

In support weapons it says mortars do not leave a FFE while latter in the Indirect Fire rules it says they do. Is there an implied difference between SW mortars and mortar WT’s?

Yes. In support weapons it's taking about small mortars that are support weapons not weapon teams.
In the Indirect fire it's talking about Weapon Team sized mortars.
Larger rounds have a lasting effect in the hex.
