How do you determine which races move toward war or alliance on this track? The die symbols do nothing but confuse me as there are two "1 pip" and two "2 pip" results. There are 90 degree colored lines around the exterior edge of each square. Are these aesthetic only or do they serve a functional purpose?

Can't find anything in the rulebook and haven't made it far enough in the current gameplay videos on YouTube to see if someone illustrates this.

Kent Wa,
each Alliance/War track represents the staus that are between each race, and are placed between the 4 major factions. (Mercs don't get a track. they are technically at war with everyone all the time) For example, the bottom Alliance/War track represents the status between the Flesh-eaters and the Cyborgs. The top track is for the Cthonian and Mutants. The left track is for FleshEaters and Cthonian, the right track for Mutants and Cyborg. When you roll to determine what track is used, roll a d6 and a roll of 1 and 2 effects BOTH tracks that are marked with 1 and 2. So if you roll a move to war result, and then follow up with a roll of 1 to figure out who it effects-BOTH Cthonian/Mutant and Flesheaters/Cyborg receive the 1 step to war result. A roll of 3-6 only affects a single pair.

For any Alliance/War result between the Cthonians and Mutants-move the Merc War effort 1 step up. (the Merc symbol is there to remind you when the political status changes to War or Alliance). Mercs find it hard to focus on you when the Cthonians and Mutants are either at Alliance (both nations are actively hunting down the Mercs) or War(both races are in a shooting war and don't care who gets in their way).

Im sure Nathan will have a more complete answer to this-but that's the quick rundown on it

That works for me, Devin. The doubles mean the Cthonian/Mutant relationship and the Flesh Eaters/Cyber relationship are extra volatile compared to the Cthonian/Flesh Eater relationship and the Mutant/Cyber relationship.

If your explanation above is correct (and it makes sense to me), no further clarification is needed.

Thank you!
