I would like to introduce Philip Devine as the project lead for Falling Stars: War of Empires. Philip will be bringing you more details in the weeks ahead.

What is Falling Stars: War of Empires?

Falling Stars: War of Empires is a 4x turn-based strategy game set in the Falling Stars universe where players clash in epic space battles, manipulate opponents with politics and trade, and explore the galaxy to gain valuable resources and allies. It also introduces some innovative new concepts to the genre, while building on others. You have the ability to barter with the inhabitants of planets for extra resources, manage diplomatic relationships with other alien races, and interact with rogue mercenaries that patrol the galaxy.

The game will have a single player campaign where you can battle against an AI at your own pace, as well as online-multiplayer where you will vie to be the first to reach 20 victory points by asserting control over the galaxy. Whether you want to focus on annihilating your opponents in battle, or cut them off from their resource stream with your political influence, you are granted victory points for a variety of accomplishments, so there is no single path to victory.

Please leave any questions you have and I am sure Philip will answer.

Hi everyone! As David said, I'm leading development on Falling Stars: War of Empires, and I'll be around to post updates and answer questions. In the meantime, I'm going to work on giving you some more detail on the rules and features of the game, so stay tuned!

Hi harley9699, over the next few weeks I'm going to post demonstrations of all the game's mechanics, with screenshots and video. For the time being, you can check out the (albeit dated) demo trailor, and my first post on the basics of space exploration here: http://forums.lnlpublishing.com/thr...k-at-space-exploration-with-screenshots.1026/

Of course, if you have any specific questions let me know. Otherwise I'll try to get more info out on the forums ASAP!

I'll ask one of the more obvious questions: Any idea for a release date yet? (I'm guessing it's at least a good year away.) Or are you still in the "it'll be done when it's done" period of development?

Well, I can at least give you something :)

We have recently made quite a few changes to some major mechanics, and are getting back into the process of fleshing out the existing features. Best case scenario, if we can settle on said features, then we will plan to release in the next 5 months.

Oh wow! Nice.

Well I won't count the proverbial chickens before they're hatched -- I have at least a dim notion of how game development can go, and the unexpected/unanticipated delays that can crop up -- but good to know I can *probably* (no promises, I realize) hope to see this puppy sometime next year still.

Yes definitely! And for reference, the game has been in development for about 2 years now, so we're not trying to rush it out by any means. We've been really patient up until now to make sure the final product is exactly what people would expect out of this type of game, and more. So far the process has been great and the game is in a playable state right now, just needs a lot more content and "beautification".
