SWs in Close Assault

Hello everyone,
a sudden (and maybe banal) question :
it's written that when a SMC uses SW, he forfeits his IFP, but what about a SMC using SW in Melee combat or Close Assault?
e.g. an Hero with IFP of "1" owns a Molotov cocktail SW (IFP of "1"), and he's going to resolve a Close Assault:
is Molotov IFP added to Hero's one (for a total of "2")?
or is this SW totally useless for Hero Close Assault?
i.e.: if Hero can not add SW IFP without forfeiting his IFP, his close attack will be always worth of "1", both he uses SW and he do not

He uses SW or IFP, never both.
