Captured SW and Melee

Just entered melee with one squad and a captured support weapon against two squads. Decided to attack only one of the two ennemy squads. Succeeded in my endeavor but was also eliminated. Now, is the captured SW eliminated too? The rules under 8.0 mention that if a captured SW is used and the enemy is not eliminated, the captured SW is removed from the game in the Admin Phase. But is the ennemy here considered to be only the targeted squad? My opponent would prefer this interpretation of the rules, of course

The enemy WAS Eliminated so it's NOT removed.
