Autoscroll at map edge is turned on by default, but when trying to turn it off in the Game options tab the check box is already empty.
Checking the Autoscroll at map edge box does nothing.
I find the autoscroll very annoying, especially as I have two monitors, and am unable to turn it off.

I to had this problem but after turning it on and off a few times it stopped auto-scrolling and so far it has remained so.

Now I am testing the options menu and it works very oddly. e.g. when I unchecked only "auto-scale Force Icons" then "reverse mouse zoom" was unchecked automatically too. Then I check only "reverse mouse zoom" and "Autoscroll at Map Edge" is checked automatically too. I dismiss options menu, than I open the same menu and what I can see! - "reverse mouse zoom" and "autosroll at map edge" are unchecked!

It is really unsophisticated solution :) Please try to checked autoscrooling and than unchecked again and say us how it works... thx!

I only posted that as confirmation and a means for a temporary fix for the auto-scrolling as it is very annoying. I'm sure Dave will see to it in the future.

Thanks for the advice Edjaws.
I did as you suggested, just kept opening and closing the options, and clicking in the autoscroll box.
The setting did indeed stick eventually ( about the 10th time), and I no longer have map edge scrolling which is great.
Not an ideal scenario, but helpful for now.

Can you please do me a favour and try this. Change one of those setting and then close an d re-open the Options dialog. Confirm that the setting does not stick. Then change it again, save the game, load the game and tell me if it has then remembered the change or not. I am trying to determine if the issue is that it only saves the options when you save the game.

I have just been messing about with it, and its not got anything to do with the save, its got something to do with the strange interaction with the reverse mouse wheel next to it.

OK took a look into the code that sets the reverse zoom and autoscroll. Unlike all the others these two are not set in the registry until the window is destroyed. So even if you dismiss the window they will be reloaded from scratch and ignore your change. Now I don't know why this was done this way. I will have to investigate further. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Stephen,

I value sanity above most things. Hence I have found the culprit for the errant behaviour. It wasn't saving the registry preference nor using it on loading. It does now. The same applies for the reverseMouseZoom checkbox too.
