Below the Combat Table there are Row Shift Modifiers. The example on page 20 doesn't mention them. Does "+Lead Bomber Crew's Bombing Rating" (say its +4) mean to shift 4 rows up or down? If +4 means to shift up 4 rows, this doesn't make sense. A higher bombing rating INCREASES flak???

Does the flak check of 2d6 dice for a 2-5 apply to a flak attack over the target? I would think target flak would be automatic.

Flak over target is always automatic. Once on ingress and once again on egress. Two flak attacks at target box.

The rules mention nothing about taking flak inbound AND outbound.

Thank you. Do you have any thoughts about the row shift question at the top of this thread. It's really cpnfusing.

The the row shift does not apply to the flak combat. See 8.0 and 11.1. Also the example of a flak attack makes no mention of the bombing modifier.

Flak attack is a straight cross reference of the flak factors and the number of targets (bombers) in the formation.
