In any scenario, I would like to know (or receive an estimate of) how many air strikes I will receive today for use against the enemy.

When an air strike is available, I request that the message bigger and brighter than it is now.

or alternatively, give the player a selectable option to auto-pause the game when one becomes available. Ditto for reinforcements.
