What does the asterisk To Hit in the 10 hex range column stand for? I suppose it is a minimum range given the need for the operator to regain control of the missile as it heads down range, but why then the 10 penetration if it cannot engage? I could not find a reference in either the 3.1 rules or HotG specific rules.

Hi

You're right the asterisk means that you can't hit a target at close range. The penetration of the first column should be an asterisk too.
