MacBook LnLTactical performance issues

When I start Steam my MacBook continues to operate normally.
When I launch LnLTactical the MacBook starts to perform poorly if not mostly unusable
LnLTactical does start and does display LnL games I have. I select the first scenario and it takes some time to select to play a computer opponent and then to start the scenario.
Nothing ever displays and my MacBook is generally unusable.
I struggle but do succeed in using "Force Quit" to kill LnLTactical

I have captured top output of all of this but it is not attached here.

Are you able to get to the Options menu and lower the graphics level to see if that has any effect?
