Leadership modifier, support weapon and melee

Would the leadership modifier of a leader manning a support weapon be applied to a melee resolution, since it is written under 5.0.1 that a Leader firing a SW does not add his LM to attacks by other units in his hex?

The Leader is either using the SW or providing his Leadership Modifier. Not both. So you have to decide if you need the FP for odds if you want the +1 to the die-roll.
