This is a very fast AAR to help anyone having problems with this scenario.
The three Recon patrols have been sent out with individual orders, along separate routes, to reconnoiter a passage through to the objective.
It's not ideal to use these units as Recon at night, as they consist of light armored vehicles and scout cars, which are more effective and less vulnerable during the day but time is of the essence as we only have 24 hours to achieve our objective.
They have just made first contact with the enemy.

C Sqn 4th Hussars has pushed on up the main highway, losing a few of its AFV's in the process, but causing the enemy to retreat into the light forest.
The other Recon patrols have reached their assigned positions meeting no resistance.
1st Bn Rangers Kings Royal Rifle Corps has been ordered to clear the enemy out of the forest, to the west of the main highway, with an attack order, left echelon, axis of advance being the main highway.

The movement motor overlay is displayed on the map.
As we have no foot units, this is a very important overlay to show where we are able to go.

3rd Royal Tank Regt have been ordered to follow the route reconnoitered by B Sqn 4th Hussars across the highway bridge to the north west of the objective and take up position as high as they can on the opposite slope, where come daybreak they will be able to pour fire onto the west slopes of the objective.

D and B Coy's, 1st Bn Rangers Kings Royal Rifle Corps probes have been beaten back, but revealed vital intel on the enemy positions on the south of the objective.

155th LAA Bty 52 LAA Regt RA, equipped with 12 40mm Bofors AA guns, and A Portee AT Bty 102 AT Regt RA have been ordered to move forward to take up positions facing the south slopes of the objective before first light. They will take up positions inside the edge of the light woods and set to engage at max range, rapid fire.

Day dawned at 05:00 and a fierce firefight has been ongoing in the south of the objective, with the long range firepower of two Sqn's from the 4th Hussars and the HQ assets, along with the 12 40mm Bofers from 155th LAA Bty 52 LAA Regt RA, indirectly supported by two Batteries of 25pdr's pouring fire onto the entrenched positions of the German Infantry.

I have zoomed in a notch in order to show more detail of the fighting around the objective.

3rd Royal Tank Regt have taken a few long range shots at what is probably a mortar unit or IG gun, on the top of the objective and have received some incoming bombardments in return.
Other than that the west side of the objective looks to be unoccupied at this time.

1st Bn Rangers Kings Royal Rifle Corps, have been ordered to get some rest and care for the wounded sustained from the probes earlier.

It's been fully light for 2 hours now and the overwhelming long range firepower from the units pouring fire onto the south of the objective has caused the enemy to pull back taking many casualties.

1st Bn Rangers Kings Royal Rifle Corps, with A Sqn 4th Hussars leading the way for the first leg, have new orders to move along the track to the east of the objective and circle in behind to the north. (see the task edit dialogue on the image to see the order given)

Over the last 2 hours 1st Bn Rangers Kings Royal Rifle Corps, with A Sqn 4th Hussars have been making their way, slowly but surely, around the only route available to them, in order to get to the north side of the objective.

1st Bn Rangers Kings Royal Rifle Corps continue to make their way around to the north of the objective slowly negotiating the very rough terrain.
The aim now is to try to obtain a 10:1 ratio over the remaining enemy on the objective and try to pick up LOS on any that may be within 300m of the center. Control will not pass to us if there is an enemy unit still within 300m of the objective center, even if we are able to obtain a 10:1 superiority.

A Sqn 3rd Royal Tank Regt has been ordered to a position further to the north west of the Bn HQ, and onto the main highway, to try and pick up LOS (line of sight) of the remaining enemy units on the objective.

The remaining visible unit surrendered at 13:16 hrs, but the objective has not flipped to our control, meaning that there is another hidden unit within 300m of the objective center.
My next task will be to move units around to try and pick up LOS as well as conducting reconnaissance by fire within 300m of the center using the two 25pdr Batteries of the Royal Horse Artillery.

After much maneuvering, trying to get as close as possible to the objective from many different directions, LOS was picked up of the enemy HQ in the position shown. (see force data tab right of image)
It was quickly engaged by direct and indirect fire and has pulled back from its indicated position that is now 3 hours old to an unknown location.
I can tell it has pulled back, because not long after this engagement took place, the objective flipped to our control.

At D1, 20:44 I accepted the surrender of the 12th Armee HQ.

If you have any questions please ask, I'll be more than happy to answer if I can.

The 3D views using Google earth overlays really give a good grasp of the lay of the land! Are there any plans to incorporate similar tilted map 3D views into COps2 in the future?

Yes the 3D effect would be nice but that relies on laying the 2D image over a 3D mesh of spot heights. It could be done but probably not with the current Microsoft Foundation Class libraries that we are using. We would really need to move to a new graphics engine and that's real big deal. So not in the near future.
