N - Interceptor
n - damaged Interceptor
E - escort
e - damaged Escort
X - destroyed aircraft

1st Round of a Fighter combat

N1 - E1
N2 - E2
N3 - E3
N4

becomes

n1 - E1
N2 - e2
X - E3
N4

Can E1, e2 and E3 withdraw and not take a part in the second round?
Or is it just E3 that can withdraw because it is not engaged after the first round?

I made this picture so you can see better what i mean - this is the 1st round of Fighter vs. Fighter combat. The aircraft pairs up and fires.

Which of the P-47s can withdraw after the 1st Round of combat. A, B, C?

A - undamaged, engaged Escort
B - damaged, engaged Escort
C - undamaged, unengaged Escort
