Tidbits - Heroes of the Pacific: Raid on Taivu

Apr 26, 2020
Interesting fact about how Edison and the boys got to Taivu.

The APD McKean and Manley transported the majority of the Marines - but - also included in the raid were the YP-298 and YP-346 (in navy slang, the “Yippies”) which were TUNA fishing boats that were purchased or leased “until victory” just after Pearl Harbor.

The YP was a designation for Yard Patrol.
